Where Is The Court System? - And Response

  • Tuesday, December 30, 2014

It is beyond obvious what Chattanooga needs to do in order to address the crime problem, why not try locking up the criminals?

Once again I see the police have arrested someone for robbery that should already be in jail.  The latest repeat offender, Roger Glenn Strickland has pleaded guilty twice to armed robbery, the latest in 2013 which resulted in the severe punishment of four years suspended sentence.  Now the taxpayers will be on the hook for the treatment of his broken back that happened while evading arrest.

Why do we not hold judges responsible for the continued practice of unleashing repeat felons in the community?  The police are doing their job by arresting them, when will the courts do theirs?

I must agree with Jerry Hickey and add that I see the same people arrested frequently on your jail bookings page. If the courts would start sentencing the criminals to full sentences they would not be continuously endangering the citizens of Chattanooga.
