A Nashville businessman and counseling executive has announced he is seeking to chair the Tennessee Democratic Party. Larry Crim, CEO of Christian Counseling Centers of America Inc., said he decided to enter the race for chair after campaigning among Tennesseans in 95 counties as a U.S. Senate candidate where people said they want outreach and unity.

“We must show, by standing among the people,” Mr.
Crim said, “that we stand with them and are fighting for them.” This public interaction Mr. Crim said will give Democrats an opportunity to know the people and earn the public’s trust.

Mr. Crim chairs Democrats United For Tennessee Inc. a non-profit sponsoring events bringing Democratic candidates and constituents together. The native Nashvillian, who provides management consulting as Larry Crim MPA MA & Associates, says he wants to improve the party’s organizational performance by maximizing Democratic human resources in all 95 counties.
Mr. Crim holds a master's of public administration from The University of Tennessee and Tennessee State University, a Master of Arts with a major in Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University and a B.A. in Arts & Sciences from the University of Tennessee.
Mr. Crim is joined by Gloria Johnson and Terry Adams, both of Knoxville, Mary Mancini of Nashville, and Lenda Sherrel of Monteagle in seeking to be Tennessee democratic party chair. The position is elected by members of the party’s state executive committee.
The Tennessee Democratic Party expects to hold elections for the chair at its first organizational meeting in January in Nashville.
