A Chattanooga woman was wakened from sleep on Dec. 3 only to find that a strange man had entered her home.

When she saw another man, she yelled and both suspects fled. The woman fired approximately six shots at the men.

She told police that when they fled, they got into a vehicle. However, the vehicle got stuck in a ditch on the way out and both suspects fled on foot.

Police discovered that the car was owned by a couple from Cowan, Tn, the Penders.

However, when they contacted them, police learned that they had loaned the car to another woman.

The original owner, Ben Pender, had allowed Jennifer Simpson to take the car after a vehicle he had sold to her had been having problems. He was going to try to repair that vehicle while she drove his.

During this time, Ms. Simpson was arrested. After her phone and keys were taken into property at the jail, they were eventually released to her friend, Jeremy Goins, 26.

Pictures taken on the phone after this showed Goins and another man, Brian Jackson.

When showed in a lineup, the burglary victim picked out both men without hesitation. They were charged with aggravated burglary.

Bond was set at $50,000.
