Auburn University Football Chaplain Chette Williams To Speak At March 4 FCA "Road To Victory" Banquet

  • Thursday, February 20, 2014

The annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes "Road to Victory" banquet will be held Tuesday, March 4, at 6:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga Convention Center.  Auburn football chaplain and former Tiger player, Chette Williams will be the keynote speaker for this annual fundraiser that benefits the Greater Chattanooga FCA.

"What an amazing year the Auburn football team just concluded,” said Chattanooga FCA Director Jay Fowler.  “We are thrilled that their chaplain and spiritual leader, Chette Williams will be coming to Chattanooga to share behind the scenes insights of spiritual victories that coincided with the amazing on the field performance of this year’s Tiger team."

Chette Williams has been associated with Auburn football for parts of four decades.  A 1985 AU graduate, Chette played on teams that won the Sugar Bowl, Citrus Bowl, and Liberty Bowl. Mr. Williams later earned a Masters of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and served churches and ministries in Spartanburg, South Carolina and Mobile, Al.  In 1999, he was called to be the football chaplain and FCA campus director at Auburn.  Mr. Williams ministers on a daily basis not only to coaches, players and their families, but to numerous staff throughout the athletic department.  He has served under three head football coaches, Tommy Tuberville, Gene Chizik, and Gus Malzahn who have been extremely supportive of his ministry and the FCA.  Williams and his wife, Lakeba, have three children.

The Greater Chattanooga FCA was founded locally in 1961 by Marion Gaston and several other local Christian business leaders. Road to Victory is the primary annual fund-raiser for the Greater Chattanooga FCA in its ministry to athletes and coaches on more than 60 high school, middle school, and college campuses in Southeast Tennessee.
