Hershel Lee Steele, 73, of East Ridge passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in a local hospital. 

He was a member of Unity Baptist Church and enjoyed being emcee for gospel music shows.  He was retired from Southwest Motor Freight as a truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Steele; four sons, James H. Steele, Bobby D. Steele, Michael W. Steele and Timothy W. Steele; several grandchildren; two brothers, Glenn D. Steele, Ronnie D. Steele; one sister, Kathy Neal; sister-in-law, Louise McMinn; two nephews, Stephen and Keith McMinn.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.  

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. on Friday, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, before going to the cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the East Ridge Fire Department and his faithful caregivers for their compassion and care through Hershel’s long illness.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 5018, Hagerstown, Md. 21741-5018.
