Crane, Walter Howard (Cleveland)

Walter Howard Crane, 70, of Cleveland, TN, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2014. 

Mr. Crane was the son of the late Dorothy Fisher Crane and George H. Crane; and was also preceded in death by his sister, Georgia Thompson.

Mr. Crane was a Vietnam War Veteran serving in the U. S. Marine Corp. He received his Master’s Degree and was retired from the U. S. Forestry Service with over 20 years serving as a Silviculturalist, Tree Scientist. He loved Classical Music including the works of Beethoven. He was a competitive runner and he ran in the Boston Marathon twice. He was an avid reader and he enjoyed classic movies and movie stars including Humphrey Bogart and Sophia Loren. Mr. Crane loved the outdoors including walking and hunting.

Survivors include his daughter, Sarah Crane; his sons, Patrick Crane, Pastor Jesse Crane and his wife Meghan all of Cleveland; his granddaughter, Sophia Crane; his grandsons, Andrew, Nicholas and Maxwell Crane; his sisters, Priscilla Swanson and her husband Richard of Chicago and Dorothy “Dee Dee” Stima and her husband Frank of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Wednesday, April 23, at 11 a.m. from the North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Pastor Jesse Crane officiating. Graveside services and Interment will follow at 12:30 from the U. S. National Cemetery in Chattanooga with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be given. 

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 22 at the North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes who has charge of the arrangements.
