Joe Manuel won the straw poll of the Chattanooga Tea Party. More than a dozen candidates went to last week's forum to share their views and answer questions of those in attendance.

Mr. Manuel, who is an active Republican, has served as president of the Pachyderm Club and has received the backing of seven former Hamilton County GOP chairs in his bid for Chancellor Part1 of Hamilton County.

Campaign officials said, "As a mediator, arbitrator and trial lawyer for the past 35 years, Mr. Manuel has been a constant an consistent presence in the court system. His experience allows him to see the entire field and use the best techniques to resolve disputes."

"It is an honor for me to have won the Chattanooga Tea Party straw poll," Mr. Manuel said. "Our team is grateful for the support and encouraged as we enter the final days of early voting. The Chattanooga Tea Party plays an important role in Hamilton County politics and I'm humbled by the outcome of the poll."

Early voting ends on May 1, with the election day on Tuesday, May 6.
