The annual Honda Gold Wing Tennessee District Rally Spring Fling is expected to bring more than 2,000 riders to Camp Jordan Arena through Saturday.
"The Gold Wing riders are a pleasant and fun group to work with," said Parks and Recreation Director Stump Martin.
"They bring a large economic impact to the area. Please watch out for the motorcycle riders, not only this week, but at all times."
The event is sponsored by the Tennessee Gold Wing Road Riders Association and Southern Honda Powersports in Chattanooga. Vendors are set up in the Arena selling bike gear, motorcycle clothing and a host of motorcycle-related items.
The second Gold Wing "Parade of Lights" through East Ridge was held on Thursday evening at dusk.
"This was a cool parade with the bikes decorated in many colorful lights," Mr. Martin said. "The more neon and the more color the better. It's amazing how some of these bikes and trikes are painted and equipped with lights."
Mr. Martin said that Arena Supervisor Bill Owens and the parks staff are excited about this group coming to Camp Jordan for the second year in a row.
"We welcome them to keep coming back," Mr. Martin said. "East Ridge and Camp Jordan are motorcycle friendly."
