Vacant House Fire On Davenport Street Under Investigation

Chattanooga firefighters responded to a house fire at 2217 Davenport Street around 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Lt. Wadie Suttles with Engine 4 said light smoke was showing from the left rear door when the first firefighters arrived. The fire was found in a bathroom and firefighters extinguished it in just a few minutes. No injuries were reported. The loss was estimated at $5,000.

Lt. Andrew Waters with the Fire Investigation Division said some clothes had been set on fire on the bathroom floor.

No one has lived in the house for several months. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
