The MoonPie General Store held its Chattanooga re-opening on Friday at 429 Broad Street across from Sticky Fingers.
"Our General Store in Chattanooga is a magical place to visit and now we are offering a richer visitor experience," said Kerry Wood, VP of Marketing for MoonPie General Stores. "Whenever you mention MoonPie, there’s always a smile and a fond memory right behind it. We now make that smile larger in our expanded store by offering Mayfield ice cream, floats, milk shakes and MoonPie Sundaes served at an old timey soda fountain counter.”
The MoonPie General Store will be open Monday-Thursday (10 a.m.-8 p.m.), Friday-Saturday (10 a.m.-9 p.m.) and Sunday (noon to 6 p.m.). MoonPie General Stores are also located in Pigeon Forge, Lynchburg and Charleston, S.C.
During the Grand Re-Opening July 18-19, a portion of the proceeds from the weekend sales will be donated to the Honoring The Sacrifice, a foundation for wounded veterans and their families.
Besides the floats and sandwiches, the MoonPie General Store offers a wide variety of Moon Pie items, Chattanooga and Tennessee souvenirs, tickets to area attractions and more.
Visitors can also see how MoonPies are made by watching a free video in the store. First made in 1917, Moon Pies became the No.1 seller for Chattanooga Bakery by the 1930s.
