Winston Virgil “Roadrunner” Franks, 73, of Etowah, TN and formerly of Benton and Cleveland, died Saturday, July 26, 2014 at his home.
He loved watching football, especially University of Tennessee, and loved watching Fox News. He was a member of Cloverleaf Baptist Church in Cleveland and was a proud U.S. Marine Corp. Veteran. A medal of good conduct was presented to him while in the Marine Corp. He was formerly employed at Magic Chef and Bendix Corp. in Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Edgar Louis and Edith Williams Franks; two infant sisters, Barbara Ann and Faye Irene Franks; one infant brother, Dwight Franks; maternal grandparents, Sam and Nettie Williams; and paternal grandparents, Rev. Joe and Ida Franks.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Wanda Wright Franks; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Rose Franks, of Jacksonville, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Nathan Honey of Reliance, TN; grandsons, Joshua Trentham, Jacob Trentham, Mark Smith, Michael Smith, Caleb Honey, and Jonathan Honey; granddaughters, Tabitha Pike and Gynalyn Comiso; great-grandchildren, Allyssa and Chase Pike, and Kaitlyn and Emily Leverenz; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Shirley Price of Cleveland, Sylvia and J.M. Brown of Cleveland, Angie and Charles Murphy of Delano, Wawanna Derrick of Cleveland, Sharon and Russell Russ of Ocoee; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Eddie and Mary Lou Franks of Benton, Joe Franks and Johnny Franks, both of Cleveland; aunts, Patsy Colley of McDonough, GA and Lois Messamore of Manchester, TN; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
