An Alabama man was arrested on a 20-year-old warrant for a crime committed in Chattanooga in 1994.
After his arrest in Opelika, Al., on July 1, Milton Griffith Jr., now 48, was transported from the Tallapoosa County Jail to the Hamilton County Jail.
According to police, on Nov. 2, 1994, Griffith approached his friend Eddie Walter and demanded that he give him his money.
At first, Walter thought Griffith was kidding.
However, Walter told police that Griffith started attacking him with a pocket knife. As they fought, Walter was cut from his upper left shoulder all the way to his naval.
Police described the injury as serious. Walter had to receive numerous staple sutures at Erlanger Hospital.
Griffith was charged with attempted aggravated robbery and aggravated assault.
Twenty years after this incident, Griffith is scheduled to appear before General Sessions Court Judge Gary Starnes next Thursday.
