Whitfield County Sheriff Scott Chitwood received two awards at the summer conference for the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association held at Lanier Isle in Gainesville.

The sheriff was recognized as being in the Top 10 Club out of the 159 sheriffs across the state for fund raising and also was recognized in the $100,000 Club, exceeding more than $200,000 in funds.  It was pointed out at the banquet that Sheriff Chitwood came in first for raising money for the Youth Homes across Georgia.   Cherokee Estates in Whitfield County is one of five campuses across the state.   Sheriff Chitwood credits the citizens of this community as the true award winners.   “I want to thank everyone once again for their continued support for the youth of this state,” he said.
