Charles Gannaway, 83, of Rossville, died on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 after many battles with a number of illnesses.

He was born May 3, 1931, in Blue Diamond, Ky., to the late Eldon and Annie Gannaway. Charlie served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Laborers Local Union 846.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen, siblings, Eugene, Howard, and Marie Griffin.

Survivors include his sister, Lois Gannaway of Rossville, and members of Eugene and Howard's families.

Viewing will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, and prior to the funeral on Friday.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers; donations may be made to Vietnam Veterans of America, 203 P.O. Box 23405, Chattanooga, Tn. 37422.

Arrangements are by W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home-Fort Oglethorpe.
