White County Survives CCS 21-14

 The White County Warrior football team snapped a four game losing streak on their trip to Chattanooga on Friday night. White County held on to beat Chattanooga Christian 21-14.   

CCS opened the scoring with 3:09 left in the first quarter when Zach Mercer scampered in from 12 yards out.  

White County would score three straight touchdowns, one in each of the next three quarters.

In the second quarter, Chris Richmond rushed for a three yard score.

In the third quarter, Jake Shockey scored on a 54 yard run.

White County's final score came with 8:58 left in the game on a  21 yard run by Trenton Hodges.

CCS's final score came with 7:01 left when Zach Mercer scored from 11 yards out on an option play.

White County had 323 total yards on offense with 325 yards rushing.  CCS had 215 total yards on offense.  145 of those come in the air. 

CCS's senior quarterback Zach Mercer was 12 of 25 for 145 yards.   Justin Wheeler had 2 receptions for 45 yards and Brandon Mason had 2 for 44 yards. 

Brandon Mason had 35 yards rushing on 9 carries and Mercer had 33 on 12 carries. 

White County's Jake Shockey had 14 rushes for 139 yards.   Chris Richmond had 88 yards on 20 carries.  

 White County improves to 2-6 and CCS is now 3-2.

CCS will host Grundy County next Friday in a key district match up.
