East Ridge's Marc Gravitt Sworn In As New House 30 Representative

  • Tuesday, September 30, 2014

Marc Gravitt, the owner of Gravitt Auctions and Appraisals LLC, was officially sworn in Tuesday as the new state representative for House District 30.

The ceremony was conducted by East Ridge Judge Cris Helton. Earlier this month, the Hamilton County Commission voted for Mr. Gravitt to take office early, filling the remainder of Criminal Court Clerk Vince Dean’s term. Rep. Gravitt faces no challenge in the November general election for a full term.

 Rep.

Gravitt said, "I am thankful for the support shown over the last several months, and I am truly grateful to both the voters and the Hamilton County Commission for the faith they have placed in me. Vince Dean was a fantastic legislator and I fully believe his tenure as Criminal Court Clerk will be just as great. I look forward to continuing the hard work and conservative representation he began for the people of District 30."

Rep. Gravitt currently serves on the East Ridge City Council and is the president of the Tennessee Auctioneers Association.

“It is an honor to see Marc Gravitt sworn in as a new member of the Tennessee House of Representatives,” said Speaker Beth Harwell (R-Nashville). “Congratulations to Marc, his family, and his friends as he begins his new journey of working to craft commonsense legislative policies that will help bring jobs and prosperity to our state.”

“I look forward to working with Representative Gravitt as part of the Hamilton County Delegation,” said House Majority Leader Gerald McCormick (R-Chattanooga). “Tennesseans have been crystal clear that their priorities involve lower taxes, less government regulation, and a well-funded, high-standard education system. I am confident Marc will take these ideas and run, building on the success of his predecessor in making our state an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.”

“Hamilton County citizens chose to send Representative Gravitt to Nashville to support policies that will bolster economic development, keep Tennessee the lowest debt state in the nation, and ensure the futures of our citizens remain bright,” said House Republican Caucus Chairman Glen Casada (R–Thompson Station). “I am excited to call Representative Gravitt a colleague and am confident he will be wildly successful in this new endeavor.”

District 30 covers a portion of Hamilton County. Rep. Gravitt can be contacted at 615-741-1934,rep.marc.gravitt@capitol.tn.gov or the address below.
