The Lookouts got outstanding pitching from Jeremy Kehrt and the bullpen Saturday. Chattanooga's Angel Sanchez drove in a run in the seventh to break a tie and give the Lookouts a 2-1 lead. The score held up over the next two innings.

The Lookouts pitching staff struck out 15 batters in the game.

Kehrt had the opportunity to start the game for the Lookouts and used the chance to have a very good showing from the mound. After giving up two singles to start the game, he came back to get the next nine consecutive batters out.

Kehrt pitched through five innings, but was touched up for a run when Nick Ramirez hit a single in the fourth for the Stars and Hector Gimenez scored their only run of the night.

It didn’t take any time for the Lookouts to answer back, as they tied the game in the bottom of the very same inning with a Daniel Mayora single to plate Darnell Sweeney. The score stayed tied at one until the bottom of the seventh inning.

Corey Seager led off the seventh with a liner over the head of the second baseman. After a sacrifice bunt by Chris O’Brien moved him to second and an intentional walk was issued to O’Koyea Dickson, Sanchez was tapped to come off the bench and pinch-hit. Sanchez sent a grounder through the hole on the left side of the infield, while Seager raced home ahead of the throw to take the 2-1 lead.

The pitcher of record for the Lookouts at the time was Ralston Cash, who received the win. In his two innings of relief work, Cash struck out every one of the six batters he faced.

The Lookouts will try to close out the series and move on to the Southern League Championship Series on Sunday afternoon at 2:15 pm. Matt Shelton will toe the rubber for Chattanooga, pitching against Huntsville starter Tyler Wagner.

Notes: Since 1976 the Lookouts have won four first-round playoff series and have an overall record of 24-36 in the postseason in the modern era. In their 12 postseason appearances the team has face Huntsville three times (1992, 1994, 2006) and defeated them only once (3-1 in 1992). The Lookouts are looking for their first Southern League Championship since 1988.
