A new phase is complete at Rock City’s Deer Park to expand its fallow deer habitat. The new addition is connected to the original phase and can be used to gather select deer to continue keeping them healthy. With the new phase finished, the deer have an extended home containing a great deal of vegetation they can live off of.
Rock City is currently the home of nine fallow deer, with one female deer yet to be named.
A social media contest is currently underway to name her, via Rock City’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/seerockcitygardens) and Instagram (www.instagram/seerockcity).
The fallow deer have a total of three breeds that can all be seen in the herd at Rock City, including the rare white fallow deer. These deer are able to live off their natural habitat at the park, with additional food supplemented such as corn, one of their favorites.
Rock City is dedicated to cultivating its environmental stewardship by sustaining its partnership with Amicalola Deer Park. Serving the needs of 150 rescued animals, primarily sika and fallow deer, Amicalola Deer Park is a place of retreat, restoration, recreation, preservation and conservation.
