Jerry A. Cheeks, 72, of Dayton, TN, passed away early Tuesday morning, January 27, 2015 at his home.

Jerry was born in Dayton, TN on January 29, 1942 a son of the late Roy & Florence Cheeks. He was a sheriff’s deputy for 18 plus years and retired from the Rhea County Sheriff’s Department. Jerry also was a gifted carpenter by trade. He was a member of the Vine and Branches Foursquare Church. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Marjorie Cheeks, June Borne, Eva Jean Swafford and Wilma Walker. 

Jerry is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 25 years, Phyllis Kantor Cheeks; one daughter, Phyllis McMillon; one step-son, Brian Krzeczowski; two grandchildren, Steven & Eric McMillon; two brothers, Roy Cheeks and Archie Cheeks both of Dayton; several nieces & nephews; numerous other extended family members; and a host of special friends. 

A memorial celebration of his life is planned for Friday, January 30 at 6 p.m. at the Vine and Branches Foursquare Church located at 321 Broadway Street in Dayton, TN with Pastor Brian Conley officiating. 

The family will receive friends at the church on Friday evening from 4:30-6 p.m. service time.

Companion Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
