Local Elementary Student Wins Doctors Express Mascot-Naming Contest

  • Thursday, January 29, 2015

Ashlynn Morgan, a student in Mrs. Taylor Garibaldi’s fifth grade class at Rivermont Elementary School in Hixson, was chosen from among hundreds of school children as the winner of the Doctors Express mascot-naming contest.

Students from across Hamilton County, Bradley County and Cleveland City Schools received educational information about first aid safety and were given the opportunity to color and name a picture of the teddy bear mascot.

Morgan was presented with a framed award certificate and a plush-sized Doctors Express Care Bear by Doctors Express representatives Joe Kugler, and Steve Eddinger at a classroom pizza party in her honor on Friday, January 23. Doctors Express also presented a $300 education grant to Rivermont principal Mrs. Marthel Young. All schools in each of the school districts that participated in the mascot naming contest received $150 education grants.

Morgan said, “I’m so excited to have named Care Bear. I can’t wait to show Care Bear and my award to my parents!”

“Doctors Express has supported education and been a partner with local schools since we opened,” said Dr. Todd Rudolph, lead physician at Doctors Express. “We are more than just a business, we are members of the community. Ashlynn’s name for our new mascot is perfect, because we really do care about our patients, including the many children who visit us daily with sniffles, scrapes, and more.”

Doctors Express walk-in care centers provides urgent care for all non-life-threatening events, and offers on-site X-ray and and labs. On-site physicians provide convenient, affordable care seven days a week, including evenings. Most insurances are accepted, as well as private payment.
