UTC Wrestlers Stop Davidson, 36-3

Mocs are 5-0 in SoCon Action

Highlighted by technical falls from Justin Lampe (165) and Jared Johnson (285), the Chattanooga wrestling team defeated visiting Davidson, 38-3, Friday at Maclellan Gym in a Southern Conference match.

 

The Mocs (10-5, 5-0) are now 34-1 in SoCon matches, including 18 straight wins, in the five seasons under head coach Heath Eslinger. The Mocs are 23-0 in the all-time series with Davidson (4-10, 0-3).

 

After UTC senior Sean Boyle received a forfeit win at 125, the Mocs reeled off six straight wins for a 28-0 lead before the Wildcats Scott Patrick (184) edged John Lampe, 3-2.

Takedown Leader: UTC’s Justin Lampe (165) used a match-high 11 takedowns to post a 23-8 tech fall against Patrick Devlin.

 

“Justin is a scoring machine and continues to get better and is gaining confidence with each win,” said coach Eslinger.

 

“Momentum breeds confidence and confidence leads to wins.”

 

* Most Wins: Jared Johnson leads the team in wins at 25-6, followed by Sean Boyle (23-5) and Nick Soto (23-7).
