The Dalton Police Department is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and prosecution of the person or persons responsible for the Dec. 22 murder of 43-year-old Paul Guerrant.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Brian Shirley at 706 278-9085, dial 9 and then enter extension 189.

Mr. Guerrant was beaten to death on the night of Dec. 22 as he was walking along Dozier Street on his way home from a meeting at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. 911 dispatchers got a report of a man lying in the middle of Dozier Street bleeding from his head at 9:37 p.m. Dalton officers responded and found Mr. Guerrant severely beaten and lying in the road, clinging to life. He was transported to Hamilton Medical Center and later to Erlanger in Chattanooga where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators have determined that Mr. Guerrant was attacked between 9:28 p.m. and 9:37 p.m. As he walked home, he was on the phone with a friend living out of state until 9:28 p.m. and the 911 call was made at 9:37 p.m. Investigators have retrieved surveillance video from various area businesses lying along Guerrant's route that night and have found video of him walking alone as far as Frederick Street, near the scene of the crime.  The coroner's office has determined that Mr. Guerrant was killed by multiple blunt force wounds to his head.
