Georgia Northwestern Finishes Fifth At Walters State Classic

The Georgia Northwestern Bobcats took a step backward during the second and final round of the Walters State Fall Classic on Tuesday afternoon.

Georgia Northwestern, who shot a team score of 314 on Monday, carded a 318 on Tuesday and dropped one spot to fifth in the final team standings.

Chase Cole, tied for third after Monday's even-par 72 on the 7,055-yard Country Club of Morristown layout, shot an 82 on Tuesday and finished in a tie for 10th place individually at 10-over par.

Jordan Estes (78-79) joined teammate Tucker Venable (80-77) in a tie for 13th. Grant Allen (87-80) finished tied for 31st and Lanier Guest (84-88) tied for 35th.

NCAA Division II Tusculum followed up Monday's 292 with a 299, but still earned a five-stroke victory over host Walters State (A) (299-297). Walters State (B) (314-309) placed third.

The rest of the field included Carson-Newman (309-319), Georgia Northwestern, Lincoln Memorial (319-315) and Virginia-Wise (334-321).

Brad Hawkins of Tusculum and Jacob Sherlin of Walters State tied for first individually at 2-under par, while Nick Forsburg (Tusculum) was third at 1-over.
It was the final fall event of the year for the Bobcats.
