“Our goal is to provide the community with advance notice for the events that we host,” stated Tracey Wright, assistant to the President for Special Programs and Community Relations. “We know that we are fortunate to live in communities that are packed with opportunities that compete for your time. It is our hope that you might pull out your calendars now and add all of the events that might be of interest to you. These annual events promise to entertain you while in most cases also enhance your knowledge base.”

The CSCC Chamber Choir and Vocal Rhapsody Winter Concert is titled “Celebrate the Seasons!” This will include selections by the 43 member Chamber Choir, as well as the Vocal Rhapsody Men's Ensemble. Featuring a variety of music from various seasons of the year and of life, the winter concert will include traditional Christmas songs, including selections from Messiah, John Rutter, Pentatonix and Straight No Chaser. “Seasons of Love”, “If Ever I would Leave You”, and a Phantom of the Opera Medley from the Broadway genre, and a variety of musical styles celebrating the music of our lives from Doo-Wop, Motown and Eagles.  International "celebration" songs will include African Folk Song, Italian Barcarolla (Santa Lucia), Latin based Omia Sol, and Villa-Lobos Prelude No. 5 for guitar. There may also be brief appearances by Santa, Elvis, Rudolph and the Silent Monks.

This year’s line-up includes some other popular events including the Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss event that has been one of the largest events Cleveland State hosts. This purpose of this annual literacy event is to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ Birthday for children and families sponsored by the Early Childhood Education students as part of a service-learning project.  Every child receives a goody bag, a hardback Dr. Seuss book, and refreshments. Children can listen to Dr. Seuss stories being read, participate in numerous activities indoors and outside the library.  Thing 1, Thing 2, the Grinch and the Cat and the Hat will be available to interact with the children, and the children can have their picture made with the special characters from Dr. Seuss books. This event is free and open to the public. However, all children must be accompanied by an adult.  This program is sponsored by the Cleveland State Community College Early Childhood Department and the Kiwanis Club of Cleveland.

The Multicultural Fair features a colorful parade of nations, culturally based entertainment, and samplings of diverse food, international studies information, booths featuring different nationalities, children’s games and activities, various civic and social service organization displays and performances.  The event is free and open to the public.  This event is sponsored by the Cleveland State Community College International Studies Committee.

The CSCC Nursing Department will be hosting a Health Fair. The Health Fair will give tips and tools necessary to get on the road to better health, whether struggling with stress management, want to learn about stoke awareness, or are trying to stop smoking. Information on additional topics will be available at this event.

The It’s All About the Green Environmental Awareness Fair features presentations, entertainment and environmentally conscious vendors from the Cleveland community, It’s All About the Green gives you the inside scoop on the need for and benefits of going green. Children’s entertainment during the event will include face painting, playing games made from recycled materials, making items from recycled materials, and planting seeds. It’s All About the Green is open to the community, and admission to the event is free. There will be giveaways, door prizes, and free tree seedlings, as well as items available for purchase. This event is sponsored by the It’s All About the Green Planning Committee.
