Vannoy Scores Another Game Winner For Lady Scots

 For a third time this year Allie Vannoy came up big. The sophomore lifted the Covenant women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory at LaGrange with her game-winner in the 80th minute on Saturday evening. 

Covenant, coming off a tough overtime loss to Piedmont on Wednesday, wins a 1-0 match for the third time this year. The Lady Scots are 5-3 overall and 3-2 in USA South play. LaGrange drops to 3-9 on the year and 2-4 in league play.

All three of Vannoy's scores this year have been game-winners, with two of those goals coming in 1-0 victories.
The sophomore, and reigning USA South Rookie of the Week, was able to get Covenant a 1-0 lead in the 80th minute as she worked her shot past LaGrange keeper Saige Macleay. vannoy's three goals are tied for the team lead with Ruth Terry.

The Covenant defense, which was good all night, was able to prevent LaGrange from even attempting a shot in the final 10 minutes of the match.

Keeper Rachel Lemay faced three shots, but did not need to make a save as she picks up her third shutout of the year. Lemay, the USA South's Defensive Player of the Week, has allwoed just six goals on the year and has a goals against average of 0.79 in 683 minutes at the net.

Covenant held a 15-3 edge in total shots taken on the night. Vannoy took four of those, all of which were on target, while Anne Charlotte Strawbridge, Christy Barton and Anna Porch each took two shots. Macleay made eight saves in the loss for LaGrange.

UP NEXT

Covenant will host Berry in non-conference action on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Scotland Yard. The match is a make-up from the Sept. 1 contest that was postponed.
