Mocs Softball Team Wins 18-4 Over Chattanooga State

  • Tuesday, October 6, 2015
The Chattanooga Mocs softball team beat Chattanooga State 18-4 in Frost Stadium Tuesday. It was a postponed game from the RBI Fall Club Classic on Saturday.

"I was really pleased with how some players stepped up and made plays," head coach Frank Reed stated. "We had some nice hits and came ready to play at every position. We need to carry it on to Wednesday and then to the Blue and Gold Game."

In the bottom of the fourth, senior Criket Blanco (Maryville, Tenn.) hit a grand slam.
UTC added three additional runs in that inning.

"It's always nice to see a homerun, but it's nice to be able to see us play that well against a team we know is good on the field," said Reed. "Chattanooga State is a junior college that will probably go to the national tournament this year."

The scrimmage was eight innings, with four frames being situational. The third and seventh innings featured runners on first base, and the fourth and eighth included runners on first and third.

The Mocs face Bryan College Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in Frost Stadium. Admission is $5 as a fundraising event. The squad wraps up fall play Friday with the annual Blue & Gold Game, an intersquad scrimmage, at 4:00 p.m.
