A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged with aggravated rape and attempted murder after he allegedly beat and raped a woman he originally paid for sex.

When officers responded to a call about a possible domestic fight on Monday, they found Alexander Sanchez and a teenage male walking from behind a residence on the 4100 block of Dorris Street.

When they saw the police, one attempted to climb into a van while the other tried to go inside the home, but it was locked.

Both were detained.

While speaking with the two suspects, an officer heard moaning from the rear of the home. He walked around and found a woman lying in the grass naked from the waist down.

The officer reported that she had been badly beaten in the face and had cuts on her inner thighs. She was taken to Erlanger hospital unresponsive.

Another officer assisted in interviewing the two suspects who did not speak English.

The first male said that he had arrived at the home to visit the defendant, “Alex” and the two had been drinking. He said an unknown woman walked into the yard and stated something about “doing business.”

He said that Sanchez then took the woman behind the house while he stayed in the front. He said that after 15 minutes he went back to check on the defendant and saw him beating the female.

He said that he yelled and then walked to the front in a panic, followed by Sanchez, at which point they were stopped by the police.

Sanchez allegedly paid the woman $20 to have sex, but when she decided in the process that she no longer wanted to continue, he became angry and continued.

She attempted to stop him but he began to beat and kick her. Her injuries were severe and she was placed on a respirator at Erlanger.
