Teen Maze is a collaborative effort between the Whitfield County, Dalton City and Murray County school boards, police departments, fire departments and many other service organizations to educate area youth on making smart choices during their formative years.
The five day event is held at the North Georgia Fairgrounds in Dalton. It consists of guest speakers, real life consequences to all choices made in high school, and many great volunteers that educate high school sophomores on the consequences of their choices, both good and bad.
Dalton State, led by Pam Partain and Derek Waugh, has been an integral part of Teen Maze for the past three years.
Dalton State materials are handed out to every high school sophomore in Whitfield County and Murray County, and Roadrunner student-athletes pose as “models” of students who have made good choices and are now attending college with a bright future ahead of them.
“This entire effort is amazing,” says athletic director, Derek Waugh. “I am glad we are able to play a small part in showing these kids some of the success stories that thrive in our athletic department. The organizers, volunteers and sponsors of this event are tireless workers who truly love this community. It is just another example of what a special community we live in."
