Derval Lee Kennedy, 83, of East Ridge, died on Thursday, October 8, 2015 in a local hospital.  

He was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Kennedy was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was retired as a draftsman from Cavalier Corporation and loved to work in his yard. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ruth Kennedy and his parents, Marvin Oliver and Georgia Effie Camp Kennedy.

Survivors include his son, Dwight (Dee) Kennedy of Bryant, Alabama; daughter, Kathy Vaughn of Chattanooga; sister, Marie (Steve) Corder of Chattanooga; seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road with the Reverend Bill Gardner officiating.  

Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of SE Tennessee, 735 Broad Street, Chattanooga, Tn. 37402.
