Guatemalan Mobile Consulate Office Comes To Chattanooga Nov. 21-22

  • Saturday, November 14, 2015
A mobile version of the Guatemalan Consulate Office in Atlanta is coming to Chattanooga on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 21-22, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., in order to process passports, birth certificates and consular identification cards for the Guatemalan residents who live in the greater Chattanooga area.

Over the weekend, consulate officials will see close to 500 people at Orchard Knob Elementary School, located at 2000 East 3rd Street.
Every year, the consulate officials visit the cities with the largest Guatemalan populations in its four-state region -- Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina. Chattanooga is one of the highest populated areas of Guatemalan residents in the southeast.

All Guatemalan residents who wish to visit with a consulate officer must bring along the appropriate documents and processing fees in the form of a money order. A list of the documents needed for each registration type are listed in English and Spanish at http://www.lapazchattanooga.org/calendar/detail/id/71/. Volunteers will be on hand to help prepare the documents. For those interested in volunteering to assist in this effort, please visithttp://lapazchattanooga.force.com/GW_Volunteers__VolunteersJobListingFS

La Paz Chattanooga will also be conducting its 2015 Tu Voz Latino Community Needs Survey during the event. The survey is designed to assess the needs of the Latino community in order to help La Paz Chattanooga and their partners improve their services and programs to help this population thrive in the community.
