WSMC 90.5 FM, Southern Adventist University’s radio station, has invited community members on campus for its annual Cowboy Jubilee performance, a live version of the weekly radio show by that same name. Hosted by musician Bill McCallie and friends, the event has been standing room only for several years now. But on Sunday, planners are moving the event off campus and just minutes down the road to a larger space with appropriate ambiance: the 350-seat barn on Hullander Farm in Apison.
Cowboy Jubilee showcases western music, stories and poetry. Hot beverages and biscuits—“cathead” biscuits named for their enormous size—will be available immediately following the performance. The concert is free, but donations are encouraged to assist the Hunter Worley Foundation, a nonprofit offering spiritual and financial support help for families who have suffered the loss of a child.
Musicians lined up for the concert include Fletcher Bright and the Dismembered Tennesseans, Bill McCallie and the In Cahoots Band, Roy Curry (three-time flat-pickin’ national champion), Ansley Moses, Doug Barron, Caity Campbell, Patrick Kelly, Keith Mahan, James McGrew and Gordy Nichol.
Cowboy Jubilee takes place at Hullander Farm, 10944 London Lane, on Sunday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The concert will be recorded and broadcast on WSMC 90.5 FM in December. For more information, call 304-2173 or visit wsmc.org.
