George Thomas “G.T.” Wynne, 87, of Chattanooga, died on Thursday, November 19, 2015.
G.T. was born in South Pittsburg, on Aug. 25, 1928. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during World War II in Guam. G.T. worked for NASA in Huntsville, AL and retired after several years from the Chattanooga Housing Authority. He valued every day common items and could “repurpose” them to create a unique and functional item. G.T. was a member of the Harrison United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Berry Wynne.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Betty Jean Wynne, who was the love of his life; children, Andrea (B.J.) Jones, Michael (Joanne) Wynne and Kaye (Stephen) Porter; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and another on the way; beloved step-mother, Lucille Wynne, South Pittsburg.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25, in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. Chris Dover officiating. The family will be meeting at the cemetery at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday.
