UTC's Lampe Named SoCon Wrestler Of The Week

Chattanooga senior John Lampe been named General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition that was held Nov. 18-24, the league office announced Wednesday.
 
Lampe, who competes for UTC’s wrestling team, earned three wins on his way to the 184-pound championship at the Wolfpack Open on Sunday. The Fairdale, Ky., product notched a pin against Payton Mills of Gardner-Webb in 50 seconds in the opening round before taking a 6-4 decision over Hunter Gamble, another GWU wrestler.
In the final, he beat Newberry’s Huston Evans in a 2-1 overtime decision.
 
Lampe holds a 3.97 grade point average as a history and education major. He has earned Academic All-SoCon status twice and the SoCon Commissioner’s Medal four times during his collegiate career.
