Bessey, Alan Lawrence (Dunlap)

Alan Lawrence Bessey, 79, of Dunlap, Tennessee, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, November 29, 2015.

He was a native of New Jersey. Alan was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and he was a retired Air Traffic Controller (Federal Aviation Administration) Atlanta Center. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lillian Bessey of New Jersey; two brothers, Charles Bessey, Kansas City, Missouri, Roland Bessey, Virginia Beach, Virginia and a nephew, Ric Bessey. 

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Winna Greene Bessey; three daughters, Lynn Bessey Frost (Mark) of Sanford, Florida, Alisa Bessey Whited of Dunlap, Tennessee, Karen Bessey Reece (Tom) of Madison, Alabama; brother, Jerry Bessey (Pat) of New Jersey; six grandchildren, Rachel Frost, Emily Whited Raines (Brad), Chase Whited (Sasha), Sydney Whited, Jackson Reece, Shelby Reece; two great-grandchildren, Aspen and Charleigh Raines and several nieces and nephews. 

Also special to him were J.C. Cookston and Gene Wilson. 

There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Sequatchie County Cancer Network or the Wounded Warrior Project.
