Gun Safety Classes Offered By BCSO

  • Tuesday, December 1, 2015
The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office offers gun safety education classes several times during the year for residents of Bradley County that wish to obtain a Tennessee handgun carry permit.  The BCSO has provided handgun safety training for thousands of individuals since the inception of the program.  The classes are filled on a first come, first served basis and are limited to 50 students.  You must be 21 years old and have no state or federal conviction that would prevent you from purchasing, owning or possessing a firearm.

The class will be scheduled on a Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
There is no charge for the class; however there is a $5 fee that applies for the use of a privately owned range.  If you are interested in attending this training, contact Mr. Bob Gault at 423-728-7316.

When the class is complete, you will take your confirmation number, proof of U.S. citizenship and application fee to a full-service driver’s license station.  Once you have paid the application fee, you will be fingerprinted and a background check conducted.  If approved, your carry permit will arrive to you by mail in approximately 90 days.

To obtain more information about the handgun carry permit, log onto the Tennessee Department of Safety website at tn.gov/safety.

The next handgun safety class is scheduled for Feb. 5, 2016.
