Bryan Soccer Players Named Daktronics NAIA Scholar Athletes

  • Monday, December 14, 2015
The Bryan College Men’s Soccer team had five members named 2015 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics earlier this week.

Cody Wheeler and Andrew Betts are two members from the varsity team who received the honors of Scholar-Athletes. Wheeler and Betts provided quality time for the Lions team late in the season, helping Bryan finish 8-0-1 in conference play and sealing the Regular Season Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship.
After topping Montreat College (N.C.) and St. Andrews University (N.C.) in the AAC conference tournament, the Lions eventually fell to 16th ranked Union College (Ky.) in the AAC championship game.

Defenders Andrew Bogard and Zachary Johnson, along with midfielder Noah Lee, are members of the player development team and were named Scholar-Athletes for the 2015 season. The PDT team finished with a record of 2-3-1, with a notable 7-0 win over University of the Cumberlands on Sept. 22nd.

In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
