Jazzanooga Arts SPACE Opens On MLK Boulevard

Jazzanooga Arts SPACE welcomed more than 160 friends and supporters at its grand opening featuring British jazz and soul vocalist Julie Dexter. 

Mayor Andy Berke, singer Julie Dexter, representatives from Alabama Women in Jazz, the National Museum of African American Music, former Jazzanooga students, board members and a host of community supporters packed the MLK Boulevard space to welcome Jazzanooga Arts SPACE to the neighborhood. 

“It is great to see the amount of community support we had for our grand opening and we are excited to have a physical space on MLK Boulevard, where we have done some of our community programming for the past five years,” said Shane Morrow, Jazzanooga’s executive director. “The grand opening represents the culmination of years of hard work and partnerships and we are happy to finally welcome visitors through our doors.” 

Jazzanooga Arts SPACE is at 431 East MLK Blvd. 

Jazzanooga Arts SPACE will offer a host of programs, events and services from jazzy yoga classes, upbeat Zumba, CoStarters for Creatives, Pecha Kucha nights, classes by The Chattery, music classes, to monthly Night Cap Nights – a pop up jazz club named after the legendary MLK Boulevard Jazz Club, the Night Cap. The space is also available to groups and organizations for rental.

Jazzanooga, started in 2011 as a one-day community festival and has grown become a cultural arts and education nonprofit that offers year-round programming and a month-long celebration that promotes Chattanooga's arts, music and cultural heritage.  For more information, visit www.jazzanooga.org.
