Lee PR Group Inducts New Members, Honors Moore

Lee University’s Public Relations Student Society of America inducted new members. Tim Moore, president of Lee’s PRSSA inducted new members Lilly Feliz, Victoria Forhetz, Sarah Graver, Emily Honeysett, Amy Marona and Marshall Pickard during their first meeting of the semester. 

PRSSA is the branch of the Public Relations Society of America that connects Public Relations students at more than 300 universities with each other and professionals. Lee’s PRSSA is a part of PRSA’s Lookout chapter; it provides students the opportunity to network while they are in school, and hear from speakers working in the professional field. 

This semester at Lee PRSSA, a variety of guest speakers are set to visit including Candace Davis from Chattanooga Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. On March 19, the CMA and PRSA Lookout chapter is hosting a professional mixer at Lee’s new Communication Arts Building. 

Along with the inductions of the new members in January, Mr. Moore received the “Aspiring Professional Award” from the Lookout PRSA chapter. This award recognizes students who are exceptional in their involvement and aspirations in the professional world. Mr. Moore and Maurice Fider, the former president of PRSSA at Southern Adventist University, were the two recipients of this year’s award. 

Mr. Moore, a senior public relations major at Lee, was born and raised in Cleveland. He currently works as the digital communications specialist in Chattanooga at Lamp Post Group, an incubator for start-up companies. 

“When I learned in December that I was a recipient of this region-wide award, I felt very grateful and honored,” said Mr. Moore. “I attribute both my professional and personal development in my two years at Lee to my encouraging professors, my supportive peers and my invaluable mentors from internships.” 

Mr. Moore’s fellow PRSSA executive board members surprised him with the award. Tina Paul, a representative from the Lookout PRSA chapter and employee of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee presented him with the award plaque.
