My Union History

  • Friday, February 13, 2015

Hello, my fellow working Americans.  I felt the need to communicate with you at this time.  I would mention that my relationship with the union movement goes back to the mid 1960’s were I served as a union steward in a local foundry.

In my most recent election I had no greater advocate/partner than the workers unions, local and beyond Chattanooga. After reading the front page article in this Friday’s Chattanooga Times Free Press on SB123 being discussed at the state level, I wondered if I still supported the Union Movement.

The councilperson being quoted in this article knew full well that I support the effort to stop SB123. He talked with me one on one. I clearly made him aware of my support to stop this bill. I have to conclude he intentionally wanted to leave a cloud as to my support to stop this bill, for his own reasons, which I deem are personal and lack common sense.

I would ask that you not depend on this individual to make me aware of events that I would gladly attend, like the press conference on Thursday the 12th that I had no knowledge of until I read the newspaper today. If there is a need for me to further elaborate on this issue, please contact me.
