Dalton State women’s golf coaches Jim McGrew and Marsha Whitener signed Carly Shane of Waterloo, Ontario to a scholarship, beginning this fall.

Shane visited Dalton over the weekend and had an opportunity to visit The Farm and Dalton Golf and Country Club. “I loved the great golf courses to play and practice on,” said Shane, who currently plays for Northern New Mexico College in Espanola (near Santa Fe).

McGrew, the Lady Roadrunners head golf coach, said the addition of Shane adds balance to the roster.

“We are really excited to add Carly to our program,” said McGrew. “She gives us another girl with college experience and one who has won on the collegiate level. We could not be happier with the roster we will have going forward. Carly is an outstanding student and person and will fit in well at Dalton State.”

Shane is a business administration major who has a 3.4 GPA through her first two years of college. Carly is the daughter of Cheryl and Daryl Shane and has one sibling, Ben Shane.
