Region 3-AAA To Play Friday With Earlier Start Times

Matchups Remain The Same For Semifinals

  • Thursday, February 26, 2015
The Region 3-AAA basketball tournament, despite schools being closed, will resume on Friday at Ooltewah High School with four semifinal games on the schedule.

While the matchups remain the same, start time for the games have been moved up to 2 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., Ooltewah athletic director Jesse Nayadley said.

While schools will be closed on Friday, Nayadley was given permission by the central office to play the semifinals.

Sectional games, which decide which teams advance to the state tournaments in Murfreesboro, are slated to be played Monday (girls) and Tuesday (boys).

Championship games will be played on Saturday, but Nayadley is keeping open an option to play those games earlier than their originally schedule start times as well. On the original bracket for the tournament, title games were slated for 6 p.m. (girls) and 7:30 p.m. (boys).

"I'm going to ask the coaches their feelings on start times for Saturday," Nayadley said. "It doesn't matter to me. We can move them up or keep them the same."
