The week off from competition did not seem to both the Covenant women's tennis team on Saturday evening. The Lady Scots routed USA South foe William Peace 9-0 at the Strang-Voges Tennis Center at McCallie School.
The win is the fifth consecutive for Covenant and moves the Lady Scots to 6-1 overall and a perfect 3-0 in league play. William Peace remains winless on the year at 0-6 overall and 0-4 inside the conference.
Two of the three doubles matches were won easily by Covenant.
Gretchen Rowe and Claire Luger took an 8-3 win at the No. 1 spot while Annie DeLuca and Lindsay Geving were 8-2 winners at No. 2. No. 3 doubles team of Jessica Rowe and Catherine Landers had to rally to take a 9-7 victory as Covenant swept the doubles round.
Gretchen Rowe clinched the match for Covenant with her 6-0, 6-1 win over Alexandra Dixon at No. 1 singles. Luger went three sets before defeating Abigail Nails 4-6, 6-2, 10-3. Geving and DeLuca were decisive in their wins as each won by shutout. Geving and Jennie Spielman both took 6-1, 6-0 victories.
Covenant will be back in action on Friday, March 20 at home against regional foe Berry. Match time is slated for 4 p.m.
