UTC Adds Three To Soccer Roster

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s soccer head coach Gavin McKinney announced the addition of three more to the 2015 women’s soccer roster. The trio joins seven who signed back in February.

 

Hannah Durden • Harrisonburg High School • Midfielder

 

Hannah, a four-year varsity player for the Blue Streaks, has started almost every game of her high school career.

She is a three-time All-District performer with her senior season just underway. In her junior year she was selected to the All-Conference team as well. She helped lead the Blue Streks to the Division 3A District title in 2012 and 2013.

 

In club soccer, Hannah played for the Shenandoah Valley United in 2011, 2012 and 2013. She was also a member of the Harrisonburg High School volleyball team. She has maintained a 3.5 overall GPA, is a four-year member of the National Honors Society, a member of the National Science Honors Society and a Renaissance Student.

 

She is a member of “Streaks Serve the ‘Burg” community service organization. She has participated all four years in a leadership position including co-captain in both her junior and senior years.

 

Hannah is the daughter of Jeff and Kimberly Durden and has an older brother Jake who attends Cornell University. Her father, the defensive coordinator at UTC, was an all-conference performer at the defensive back position for Georgetown College from 1984-88. Her mother was a cross country runner and softball player for West Georgia from 1988-91. She was born in Lexington, Ky., on January 20 and her major is undecided.

 

 

Rachel Lindsey • Hardin Valley Academy • Midfielder

 

Rachel, a four-year varsity starter for the Hawks at center midfield, helped lead the team to its first-ever TSSAA state tournament berth and finished with an 18-2-2 record. In 2014, Hardin Valley claimed the Division I Class AAA district, region and sub-state titles.

 

Those title went along with the 2012 district title, two more appearances in the district finals as well as three times region finalists. In her junior year, the Hawks posted an undefeated regular season and finished the year at 16-3-4. Hardin Valley advanced to the sub-state finals that same year.

 

Rachel has played club ball for the FC Alliance since 2007 through the present. From 2007-10, she was a member of the 97 Girls Black. The team claimed the State title in 2008 and again in 2009. She went on to play for the 97 Girls Red from 2011-13 and advanced to the state each year as did the 97 Girls Black 2 in 2014. She currently plays with the 97 Girls Black R3PL in the Region 3 Premiere League. This team was back-to-back state champions in 2012 and 2013.

 

She is a member of the National Honors Society. She is an Honors and AP student and is a member of the Earth Club and NHS.

 

Rachel was born April 24 in Knoxville, Tenn., and is currently undecided about her major. She is the daughter of Scott and Barbara Lindsey and the third of four children. She has two older brothers, Zach a PhD candidate at Indiana Bloomington and Nick who attend Pellissippi State. Her sister Macy is a student at Hardin Valley Academy.

 

 

Karsyn Sewell • Collierville High School • Defender

 

Karsyn is a two-time Defensive MVP for the Dragons. She was named to the Commercial Appeal Best of Preps in 2013 and 2014 and received the Coach’s Award in 2014. She is a two-time team captain and was named Tennessee Sports Writer’s Association All-State player in 2013. She was selected to the Tennessee High School Soccer Coaches All-State Team in 2013 and was an All-Star for the organization in 2014. She led Collierville to the 2013 state quarterfinals and to the semifinals in 2014.

 

She played club ball for the Collierville Soccer Association 97 Lady Lobos Rush Premiere from 2007 through the present and the Tennessee Soccer Association Division I from 2011-15. In 2014, the Lady Lobos were qualifiers and semifinalists in the USYS Tennessee State Soccer Association Division I.

 

Karsyn is a member of the National Honors Society, the National Beta Club, Magna Cum Laude for the National Latin Exam and named Most School Spirited. She is a member of Young Life, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Woodland Presbyterian Church, a Young Life Capernaum Volunteer and a Ronald McDonald House volunteer. She is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, will Ferrel Appreciation Club, Grillers and Junior Classical League. She is a Senior Ambassador a member of the Cupcake Club and DECA.

 

She was born March 28 in Memphis, Tenn., and is the daughter of Kerry and Lynn Sewell. She has a younger sibling, Kendall and has not settled on a major.
