Star Center is the newest installation at Sculpture Fields at Montague Park in Chattanooga's Southside.
Sculpture Fields at Montague Park has a new installation, “Star Center” by world-renowned sculptor Linda Howard. The sculpture has been exhibited for the last 10 years at numerous sculpture parks and public locations throughout the United States and will be on extended loan to Sculpture Fields through the generosity of the artist.
Sculpture Fields is a 33-acre outdoor museum in the heart of Chattanooga’s Southside arts district that will be filled with 75 monumental works of sculpture from all over the world. Completion is planned for late 2015. “Star Center” is the latest of the large-scale works to be added.
What was once a brownfield, Sculpture Fields will be a jewel in Chattanooga’s crown, attracting local, regional, national and international tourists, artists, art patrons and art lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, walkers and joggers, families with children and pets, educational programs, special events and neighborhood development opportunities, said officials.
The sculpture was brought to Chattanooga from Sarasota, Fla., and installed courtesy of an anonymous grant for transportation and installation of works for Sculpture Fields. For more information on Linda Howard go to lindahowardsculpture.com.
“Star Center” is located on the Polk Street side of the park in the Northwest corner near the railroad tracks behind Chattanooga Boiler and Tank.
