A Hixson woman has been arrested after taking a variety of weapons to the Social Security office on Perimeter Drive.

Lisa Marie Carroll, 34, of 416 Northmont Road, was charged with assault on police and unlawfully carrying weapons.

In the incident early Tuesday afternoon, police said Ms. Carroll had in her belt area several hammers, a rubber mallet, a pry bar and several sharpened wood handles.

Police later found a fake handgun and several other make-shift weapons on her.

Ms. Carroll said she planned to enter the building with the weapons and a fire extinguisher.

Police said she refused five commands to drop the weapons, so officers had to struggle with her to subdue her. She kneed one officer in the groin during the struggle.
