Dalton Announces Makeup Day Plans For Students, Staff

  • Tuesday, March 3, 2015
Dalton Public Schools has announced that students will only make up 1 day of school after the recent inclement weather forced schools to close last week.  The current school calendar only has one make-up day remaining in the school year.

Dalton students and staff will use Thursday, March 12, as a full instructional day. March 12 was originally an elementary design day and an early release day for middle and high schools. Now Friday, March 13, the district’s remaining make-up day, will become an elementary design day for staff and an early release day for middle and high school students.
At this time, March 12 will be the only make-up day for students.

Dalton school employees will also work on Thursday, May 28, and Friday, May 29 to make up the remaining two days missed by staff. These two days will extend post-planning and provide professional learning opportunities for school staff.

The district builds into each school calendar designated make-up days to be used in the event of inclement weather or other factors that may close school. Unfortunately, this year the winter weather that closed schools happened with only one make-up day left in the school calendar, so professional learning days were added to the end of the school year.
