Erika Wardzinski Of Dalton State Is SSAC Women's Golfer Of The Week

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Erika Wardzinski of Dalton State (Ga.) has been selected as the SSAC Women's Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. The junior from Valrico, Fla., was chosen for her performance during the week of Feb. 23-March 1. 

Wardzinski earned a runner-up finish at the 36-hole Callaway Women's Collegiate hosted by NCAA Division III Berry (Ga.) on Feb.

28 and March 1. 

Wardzinski carded a tournament-low 73 in the first round at the par-71, 5,808-yard Callaway Gardens Lake View course in Pine Mountain, Ga.

She followed that up with a 79 for a 36-hole score of 10-over par (152) to pace the Roadrunners.

No. 8-ranked Dalton State (Ga.), which shot 66-over par (634) as a team, captured its first-ever event title—in its first year of competition.

The Roadrunners bested NCAA Division III No. 3 Washington and Lee (Va.), receiving votes Milligan (Tenn.), NCAA Division III Methodist (N.C.), NCAA Division III Sewanee (Tenn.), Cumberland (Tenn.), NCAA Division III Oglethorpe (Ga.), NCAA Division III Huntingdon (Ala.), NCAA Division III Berry and Brenau (Ga.) in the 11-team field.

Wardzinski owns a 77.64 scoring average and has accumulated 17 birdies through 11 rounds this season
