Girls Inc. Camps Challenges Girls To Think Internationally

  • Monday, March 30, 2015
Girls throughout Hamilton County will be immersed in global cultures and traditions at two hands on Girls Inc. spring break camps.  The camps will be held at Brainerd United Methodist Church, 4315 Brainerd Road on Monday, March 30 through Friday, April 3 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Officials said, "In 'International Girl', girls ages 6-11 will experience a culture and heritage explosion as they navigate through the continents of Africa, Australia and South America.  During this excursion, girls will explore the diverse people, places, food, fashion and so much as they learn about successful international girls and women leaders that make our world unique.

"During the 'Jet-setters Club' for ages 12-18, girls will explore the world’s cultural diversity through hands-on workshops with international representatives.
The girls will develop their intercultural communication skills by learning new languages, exploring cultural differences, and overcoming their fear of the unknown. Girls will have the opportunity to plan trips, eat international foods, make international art and many other global activities. While learning practical skills, girls will gain an appreciation for the diversity that exists within our own community.  They will also learn about the many cultures in India."

End of Camp presentations will be given on Friday, April 3 at 4:30 p.m. for teens and 5:30 p.m. for elementary age girls.
