The Hamilton County Council of PTAs held its annual PTA and Principal Appreciation Dinner at the Chattanooga Choo Choo on Monday. With over 250 people in attendance, the following Hamilton County PTA awards were presented:
Mary Jo Clark Elementary PTA of the Year: Snow Hill Elementary PTA;
Mary Jo Clark Middle/High PTA of the Year: Soddy Daisy Middle PTA;
Principal of the Year: Sandy Barnwell, Snow Hill Elementary;
Principal of the Year: Blake Freeman, Soddy Daisy Middle School;
Teacher of the Year: Scott Grisar, Ganns-Middle Valley Elementary;
Volunteers hours for Non-Magnet School: Allen Elementary PTA;
Volunteer hours for Magnet School: CSAS PTSA;
Largest membership per enrollment: Normal Park Museum Magnet PTA;
Largest increase in PTA membership: Signal Mountain Middle/High PTSA; and
PTA Spirit award: Sale Creek.
The businesses that supported the United Way’s “Stuff the Bus” campaign for the Teacher Supply Depot were recognized as well as United Way for its leadership in the “Stuff the Bus” campaign.
Superintendent Rick Smith gave the keynote speech about a new vision for Hamilton County and education.
Tennessee PTA President Charla Sparks recognized Council President Dwight Hunter for his service as council president.
Mrs. Sparks installed the Council officers for the 2015-2017 term. The term begins June 1.
