FirstBank Mortgage Partners Announces 2014 Recipients Of Next Generation Mortgage Scholarship

  • Friday, April 17, 2015

FirstBank Mortgage Partners has awarded $34,000 in scholarships to families in Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee as part of the Next Generation Mortgage Scholarship program, which was launched in 2013. The initiative is part of the company’s commitment to education and helping customers plan for the future.

“FirstBank is proud to continue this tradition, now in its second year, of giving back to its customers and promoting the importance of starting early to save for college,” said Wib Evans, president of FirstBank Ventures.

“We are deeply grateful for our customers, and this is one of the ways we try to show our appreciation and stress the importance of financial planning.”

Customers who received a mortgage from FirstBank Mortgage Partners in the 2014 calendar year were automatically entered in a random drawing for a $1,000 scholarship for a child, stepchild, adopted child or foster child living at home. Each FirstBank Mortgage Partners associate who qualified for participation drew one eligible customer, and the remaining customers across all three states were entered into a final drawing for one additional scholarship.

“The Next Generation Scholarship helps selected customers provide an opportunity for someone in their household to achieve their dreams of attending college,” said Lee Townsend, director of retail mortgage lending at FirstBank Mortgage Partners. “We think this is a great way to carry on the tradition of our founder Jim Ayers, who has spent his life trying to increase educational opportunities for the residents of the markets that FirstBank serves.”

The scholarship program is open to qualifying customers in Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia. FirstBank Mortgage Partners has eleven branches in Tennessee, including locations in Nashville, Jackson and Murfreesboro. Individual winners will be announced in the coming weeks.

Those customers who open a mortgage between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, will be entered into the following year’s drawing.
